Angela is an abstract artist. She began painting when she felt called to create something tangible and beautiful as an expression of thoughts in her mind.
She loves working in medium to large scale and moving intuitively to create marks and manage her work compositionally. She often works on raw canvas or linen and uses elements of sewing and patch-working to create what she refers to as “stitched paintings.” She seeks to allow an earthy and textural feeling seep into the canvas with the paint by manipulating the way time and water interact with the acrylic paints to achieve a highly nuanced result.
She finds that her surrounding environment and the natural world in close proximity to her heavily influence her work. She is regularly inspired by the changing of the seasons, the colors and textures present in wildlife at any given time, and experiences and feelings that she collects in nature.
Angela’s work seeks to create beauty that mirrors the natural world as well as adds to it.
